Claire L. Barnett, MBA is founder and Executive Director of the Healthy Schools Network, a national environmental health research, education, and advocacy organization and the Coordinator of the national Coalition for Healthier Schools. Under her leadership, the Network has challenged the nation to ensure that schools are environmentally responsible to all children, to personnel, and to communities. Among the landmark policy reforms: the New York State Board of Regents’ guiding principles and comprehensive actions for school environmental quality (1995); laws to improve indoor environmental quality in schools in New York City and state; fostering reform coalitions in dozens of states; award-winning guides to empower parents and others to take constructive actions to reduce risks; fostering the green cleaning/healthy products in schools movement; and federally, securing over $6B for school repairs and new authorizations for US EPA and Education.
